Are they running?

Well, This will be my first trip to Lake Erie for steelhead, did the salmon river thing for salmon and steelhead. Did allot of studying about the spring run..... Our trip is for the 10th 11th and 12th.... by the looks of it we should have some good water flow around then. I've heard the main thing about this time is not only the streams being open...which they are, but the mouths of the streams to the lake being jammed up with ice preventing the steelhead from running. Im wondering if the ice is still there or if this good rain thats hitting will allow the fish to run (If they want to). Either way we will make the best out of the trip. Thanks for any and all input.

PS It will be a group of three-four males fishing. Two guys 6'2" one about 220# the other 240# and two smaller guys. If you see us out fishing give us a hollar!!!! I have a camo bass pro hat with the tag on the backside dead in the middle. Hope to see some of you out!

The ice should be about gone now. Maybe ice up again if the weather turns bad. There could be some kind of spring run, but most of the fish probably ran last fall. Ohio definitely has a spring run with their "Manistee" fish. If I was planning a trip for spring run fish, I'd go there or Michigan. Prime time for a trip here is November.

I guess halupka is some kind of joke.....so the fish don't run in the spring....WTF. Guess that's a joke too. Whatever.....Fishing is fun either way. Make the best out of whatever it is up there.

There are fish around in the spring, but if you are looking for a big run, you will most likely be disappointed.  There are some fresh fish coming in, but most fish you find in the spring are older fish.  Watch out for the smolts when they are around.  Good luck when you come up.
