Hey Doc,
Got the same issue with my deer in NY. I can get there ,but when I was a lot younger I could get a deer out of there too. Not now.
If somebody found us lying side by side theyd have to gut and tag me too just to drag that far.
Those deer you dont see till they bust are some of the great experiences that make it hunting -not shopping. Just kick yourself and move on ( slower and quieter and more observant etc etc etc)
Its not how many you shoot anyhow -its the hunting that counts. Some of my best hunting memories are from years I didnt score.

And 3 up in the 3 pt. area would be a 7 or 8 pt. Which means you would have to pass on every 5 pt. or 6 pt..

what world do you live in... or is someone else using your computer ?????

I wrote ==
And from on the ground in my 3 point area I do not have to have the deer looking at or away from me many time ... I can count the 3 up and pull the trigger

I live and hunt in a three point area... that means three points to a side... so three up is a legal deer no matter what... be it a 4 point with three on one side... a three point with no other antler, 5 point, 6 point , 7 point 8,point etc etc...

all I have to see is 3 points, 2 points and a brow tine ... 3 up..WHATEVR three and it's down...

I do not have to wait for the deer to let me see the spread he is carrying.... and then try to guess how wide the spread is...

While hunting from the ground you can't see brow tines on a deer that is 50 yds. away unless it looks in your direction or is facing away from you. In both cases estimating the spread would be about as easy ,if not easier, as counting and estimating the length of the points.

Why are you guys so hung up on brow tines.. the law does not say the deer has to have brow tines.... it states they have to be an inch long if you are counting them, as a point...
I very first thing I look for is to see if the deer has 3 up... that way I do not have to worry about seeing brow tines... gheezzz

O.A. what are yuou smokin dude ???

check this out fellas... O.A. once again showing how clueless he is on hunting matters... and knows nothing about hunting or the rules....

My uncle related his favorite story from years of archery hunting the other day, and it had nothing to do with harvesting a deer, but the way he got to see wildlife interacting that he had never had a chance to see before.
