2/22 S.R. Fishing Report - Latest

On Friday, One of my best clients ventured out on his own. Fishing 3 specific spots that I had personally shown him a week earlier on a guided drift-boat trip.
-
He (on his own, after I had shown him these 3 spots, (rigging, habitat and most importantly, presentation) played w/ 18-20 Steelhead in 4 hours! Amazing! - Ye-Haaa!
-
Sat. was slower for most as we had wind gust's up to 50-60.
This kept most guides and anglers close to home.
-
BUT, a guide friend of mine still managed 8 to 10 Steelhead!
Wow!!
-
Sunday we were 1 for 2.
1 never ever angler.
We managed a 12pd. Steelhead. Ye-Haa! W/ another bigger lost.
-
Witnessed several fish played w/ almost per every spot we fished.
-
We were not in the Jerry Lewis - Jerries kid's, kiddy pool:), Handicaped spot, just kidding :)
We were in the real river:)
-
I'd like to thank you all personally for coming up here to fish.
If it was not for YOU, we would be out of biz.
Thankfully, the Steelhead fishing has been sooo good over the last 4-5 years, that all of us locals are doiing great!
-
Sooo. thanks again,
Best Fish's,
Randy Jones

    Dear Randy:

When and Where will the Randy Jones Appreciation Happy Hour be held - so you can buy free rounds of drinks to show your appreciation?

We gets mighty thirsty around these parts.?

Too bad Busters is closed, you could twist up your foam flies while stirring your cocktail with the McDonalds straw/foam dispenser...

    Randy
Glad to hear the numbers of fishermen on the SR are keeping the local economy up. For a while there it was looking pretty awful.
Back when they stopped treble hook snagging ( thank god)  and the Steel numbers crashed and Coho were considered a mythical fish it was real slim. Never thought so many shops and cleaning stations and resterants could go under so fast. Can see it slowly creeping back each year now.
I think catch and release has done a lot for improving the entire philosophy on the River for many many folks.

Played 18 plus fish in 4 hours? At 285cfs. Wow, did you teach him the difference between hooking up on a fish or a rock? If this is true, I will without a doubt hire you as a guide. I would rather fight 20 fish in 4 hours and then just drink and barbecue for the rest of the day.
