Stream Bottom

Looking for some opinions...

What do you think about the big thaw that Erie just had? Any chance that the flash thaw cleared out any of the holes that have been filled in for the past year or so? I know of a few big holes that have been filled in with lots of small stone (for some time now) and would appreciate it if mother nature would clean then back out for us.

Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach him how to fish and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day.

    haha...yeah.

I thought they spawned in the trucks that drop them off each year.

My philosophy is where one hole fills in another one opens up. Besides, rivers changing keeps you on your toes... it is fishing remember:)

I had not noticed any changes so far in the places I like to fish.

Usually it takes a huge rainfall (like flooding type rains) in the spring to really do some damage in changing the terrain of the crick bottoms. Seen it happen a few times and only in a few places.

It seems elk has changed alot in the areas below the high tressel to rt 5 in the past 2-3 years more than it has in the previous few years. In my opinion on a downward swing, there were areas that always had more than a few fish in them and it seems with these areas getting shallower or non existant ,so with the fish. The banks keep pushing father back and more erosion on a constant basis, take a good look around and see where the stream used to be,not too many years ago.I know they are always changing,it just seems they keep getting wider and shallower.

i was noticing the same for many years in a mile or so stretch of my common water... it has now recently changed for the better. give it time, it always comes back around... but remember, sometimes a spot is lost forever, that's just the way it goes... although, with the amount of development going on these days, you never know what the future will hold for our rivers... imperveous surfaces are diminishing by the day. many are claiming that the upper delaware branches, the upper main stem, and it's tribs are starting to suffer from this issue. the rainbow trout population is diminishing and even abscent in rivers that once hosted wild reproduction for over 100 years...

I fished middle Elk on Sunday and I definitely noticed some changes in some places I know real well. It appears that a few spots are a little deeper and one spot in particular filled in some.
