3 hp motor for 14ft boat

I have a 14ft aluminum shallow v boat and was looking at buying a 3hp motor for it due to the price. Currently, I only have a 30lb thrust trolling motor. Would this motor be sufficient for local lakes such as lake arthur? What am I looking at getting myself into?

    What are you expecting the 3 horse to do for you?
    I don't understand your question! - "getting yourself into" ???

    3 horse will move you around, not necessarily get you on plane...but it will save your trolling battery for when you get to where you wanted to go!
    Also it will eat up some room in the boat for a fuel tank...

    I ran a 6 horse on a small Lone Star for a while and was happy with it's performance...I felt that 3 would have been OK too.

    My thoughts...3 horse on Arthur is better than NO horses on Arthur! - if the price is right and you have the cash to spend, go for it.

    IMO, search Craigs List for a 10hp.  With the lakes going to 20 a few years ago, there are many used 10's out there.  I sold one last year for $250.

    Think I would just buy the prop atachment that goes on weed wackers (Sthil/Echo) straight shafts work better than bent IMHO  Duct tape & u have a true weedless gas long/short/mudd/swamp/brush wacker all in one, don't laff either please o/K/;
