weekend report

well i made it up this past weekend. i took my buddy up and spent a lot of time teaching him to fly cast, drift, mend, etc... the LFZ is loaded with fish. didn't fish it saturday but saw five hookups in ten minutes of observation. went down sunday morning and hooked 2 landed one right away; then spent time with my friend. we then went to douglaston for saturday afternoon; no luck on pour part but 2 other guys we saw had a few hookups. went back to lfz monday morning and hooked 2 landed 1. my friend eneded up hooking 2 on the fly rod with very little weight and traditionally casting. he was thrilled with that. so was i to tell you the truth. from saturday late morning until we left monday, the temp did not go under 31 degrees.not even at night saturday actually 40. i have no complaints. i have a video of a fish i landed that lkooked like it was 2 weeks away from spawn.... her belly was already soft. maybe i will figure out how to post it if i ever find the time... bottom line... the river is loaded...

Looking at the long range weather forecast and it looks like the thaw starts next week, maybe I'll get up there this winter after all.

Fished 4 1/2 hours Sat. My buddy had five on, nothing landed. I was skunked. Oh well, have to experience bad days to appreciate the good ones. All on eggs and stones.

Up this Wednesday  till Friday day at LFZ for me. Missing that weekend rush for a bit.  Gotta  have that Taper thing worked out first with some new line. Supposed to be about 20 degrees warmer than my last trip- might just cut the legs right off my neos. and go barefoot in such warm weather.
