CHANGING THINGS UP
We have been shooting all winter so far.We have been shooting videos and spots.I was shooting a good round on the video after half way through my back started to hurt really bad.I was thinking about lowering the weight down on my bow for the off season.I also wanted to go with a superball peep to change my peep hole to a smaller one and drop to a smaller sight housing.I just hate to make all these changes to my hunting rig.I don't want a target bow because we also shoot technohunt but was looking into another bow but not sure what to get or should i just make the changes to my hunting rig?

Before you make major changes to your archery setup get a set of barbells and some 20# dumbells and use them to strengthen your shoulders and back. They will work your muscles in a different way than just pulling the bow but with six weeks of regular use should help your problem. Start slow.

Lower the weight and see how those arrows fly out of that Maxxis.

I was always messing with my bow. In the late season I always lowered it. When shooting tournaments I used a smaller peep. Big for hunting. I would tighten my release for hunting and hair trigger for league. Its always good to join a league if your afraid to change anything. I learnt a heck of alot when I joined at an archer shop near Wilhelm. It really became fun and challenging.

So mikastorm your saying lowering the weight? What about the peep sight? That's why i wnated to go with the superball peep.I was going to toy around with the peep hole size.I think this would be the easiest peep to do this with.Like you said go small for target then take the aperture out for hunting also i could put a clairfier in it an try a scope if i wanted to.How about arrows did you go to a lighter arrow or just stick with the ones you had?

After season I always dropped my poundage by ten pounds.70lbs---60lbs. I think they used to make a peep that had interchangeable peep holes.

I just wrote a whole page here and sent it only to have it wiped out...geez! wtf Peeps.....I only used the insert into string in the sizes O...o. Some use the self centering with the tube but not I. Arrow weight goes with the bow lb. weight your shooting, the length of arrow you shoot. Too little can damage your bow. These are min t - Includes Tip Weigh80# Bow 400 gr min. 64# Bow 320 gr min. 48# Bow 240 gr min. 78# Bow 390 gr min. 62# Bow 310 gr min. 46# Bow 230 gr min. 76# Bow 380 gr min 60# Bow 300 gr min. 44# Bow 220 gr min. 74# Bow 370 gr min. 58# Bow 290 gr min. 42# Bow 210 gr min. 72# Bow 360 gr min. 56# Bow 280 gr min. 40# Bow 200 gr min. 70# Bow 350 gr min. 54# Bow 270 gr min. 38# Bow 190 gr min. 68# Bow 340 gr min. 52# Bow 260 gr min. 36# Bow 180 gr min. 66# Bow 330 gr min. 50# Bow 250 gr min. 34# Bow 170 gr min.

Sorry but I had a whole explaination written but lost it all. If you google arrow weight there are many sights that have calculaters for you. I shot an overdraw which changed things quite a bit.

Chicken, Hoyt recommends arrow weight to be no less than 5 grains per pound of draw weight. Your shaft selection will be determined on how much you want to decrease your draw weight from previous. You might need to lighten up with spine. Best to see how it shoots through paper. Many peeps on the market with small apertures. It's all preference. As far as scopes and peeps with magnifiers, the sky the limit. How much do you really want to put into a hunting bow for target shooting ?

I did lower the weight down shooting a shed better but not a whole lot better.I also went to a carter chocolate lite 4 finge just got it in today.Man this release shoots great but i was thinking tonight at diner when your at full draw and rotate your hand down it's twists the d loop.I just did it on my bow to make sure and sure enough it twisted. This release doesn't have a swivel head but not sure how to correct this problem but besides that it still shoots straight any suggestions?

Chicken that twist you are experiencing is nothing to worry about. As long as you use the same anchor and the twist is always the same it will not effect the accuracy. Forgiveness is one reason the loop is used. Now if you hooked up directly to the string, torque would defiantly be a problem. You have one of the best releases going. Give it some time and I'm sure you will love it.
