It depends on your reason for trapping them. You can legally shoot or trap them out of season on your property if they are causing damage by notifying your local WCO. Shoot or trap them out of season for a barbecue will get you a unfriendly visit.

To add to that, you can also trap them in urban areas for release into rural areas but again notify the local WCO first to prevent a later hassel.

To trap and transfer you need a special "permit" from the PGC...

You cannot trap rabbits for any reason other then nuisance trapping unless you first obtain a rabbit-trapping permit from the Game Commission. Anyone having problems with rabbits, in their garden or such, would need to discuss the problem with the local WCO. The WCO will then provide the options you have for removal of the rabbits or solving the damage concern Some Beagle Clubs do get a permit to trap rabbits during the winter months from towns and other location that can’t be hunted. That requires a special permit. The local WCO can provide the application. The club then needs to submit the completed application, along with a listing of all trapping areas, persons setting or tending traps or handling rabbits. Those rabbits all have to be released onto the areas designated on the permit within a specified time period and cannot be held for any dog trails or training. R.S. Bodenhorn

ORIGINAL: peacymike how much for a permit. seams to me you need a permit for everything. everything you do it cost money; someone has his hand in your pocket all the time. it's only me boys [dream on] Really! The rabbit-trapping permit is free. You need it though since the law doesn’t allow for rabbit trapping. The permit is the only authorization that allows for rabbit trapping in this state. Most special permits have a fee attached because it costs the Game Commission money to do inspections and the permittee is usually making money on the privileges granted under the permit. Even though Rabbit trapping permits still cost the Game Commission money in administrative costs it is a free permit for those qualified to obtain the permit. R.S. Bodenhorn

No license is required but you have to listed as one of the trappers on the permit. R.S. Bodenhorn
