No felt soles

Hello all

Im in need of a new pair of wading boots. With the looming demise of felt soles, I find myself a bit confused! Terms like, Vibram sticky rubber, Tacky rubber outsoles and Wadelight (hodgman) no-slip outsoles. Wich claim to have double the traction of felt. I'm looking for something with comparable traction to felt. Cabela's has a boot that has a lug sole and removable studs. Any opinions/suggestions on witch way to go? Are these "Tacky rubber" and "sticky rubber" soles any good? Maybe i should go with a cheap pair for this season!

    buy the stud soles and leave the studs in all the time.

    Or buy any sole and screw in 1/2" #12 hexhead screws
    Use a battery drill, takes 5 minutes

    Official wading screws = 35$ for 24 screws (enough for 2 soles) Home depot screws 0.99$ for 12, x2 = total 1.98$!!! Worked for me, prbly doesnt last quite as long, but definitely made it a few months of constant use for me!

    I used #8, 1/2inch fyi!

    The ones I got at Ace Hardware were like 6 cents each so they can be even more of a bargain. Been using them for 4 years and I think they would be hard to beat.

    I just put some in my Lacross iceman boots for help with traction while ice fishing. Tried them today but the snow was so high it didn't matter. Sure are a lot less trouble than the pull on cleats.

    I put 12 hex screws in the boots I wore running the snowblower in Bradford.
    I think the soles are hard in winter and I had no traction going down the driveway.

    I forgot about the screws until I wore those boots to the store yesterday-click click click!

    Been looking at the Titanium Ice Screws for motorcycle tires.
    $20 or so for a couple hundred screws.
    They have a nice deep head and shouldn't where out very quickly.


    I love the sweet smell of Victory and the Salty taste of Liberal Tears in my coffee. BB
