Maybe Sunday Dime but that's iffy. We fished several spots mid to upper river on Xmas eve morning and except for a 14" brown were skunked! First time all season. Been having a great year until then. 20 degrees for 2 straight weeks and lower water must have slowed them up a bit. Went to lighter leader and naturals but to no avail. Warmer temps might wake em up a lil' so good luck!

DB - I was planning on spending time up there right about NOW - I would have hit the warmup period perfectly.

But I have a sick family member to attend to.

Family comes first- even though the word Fishing starts wih an F like Family.

Looks like I will spend whatever free time I get rambling around Pennsyltucky streams.

Good luck if you head up. They should be hitting good if that water temp goes up a degreee or three.

The last couple of days have actually been pretty slow.

Some wind. , then light snow /sleet.

    Tight lines.

May want to try asking on the Western Lake Ontario Board.  Burt Dam is quite a few miles from the Salmon river.   Checked that board and do not see any posting activity.

sorry to hear that drake... my status is iffy as i said...

hey salt, it's good to hear your report... i know for a fact that some large steel came in last week. as we all know, finding them can be the hardest part though sometimes... btw; if they're fresh, water temp means nothing i've found... tight lines guys...

Just got in from 2 days with wife and grandkids- x country ski trip.
Got there Tues late afternoon and saw that there were guys in the upper river at most of the parking lots. Aslo saw a few  fishing the downtown pool.
Not much snow left and warmer weather predicted for the next few days.
Got out for about an hour and a half midday Wed. Water not as high as I would have liked and the pressure was minimal for the nice weather. Went to the bovines and didnt hit anything. The few guys I spoke to said they had been skunked too. Not a large amount of fishermen but a few around.
Fella at the tackle shop said ONE customer had some action around the ballpark on Tuesday.
I dont think anyone who didnt get there this week missed anything but a nice walk.
Hey Dime-sounds like that typical DSR thing- all bunched up for the first couple of miles then  ????

i think you're right retired... sometimes back and forth for up to a week, or maybe even some found a winter lie down low... often i find fish winterizing under the ice down low all the until february... one of the many reasons i hold my season pass...

sounds like you enjoyed yourself regardless though. happy new year to everyone...

    Hey Dime-
From what I could see the estuary is frozen over but the look from the road was that the lower DSR seemed open about half way up to the the DSR lot where you can see down there.. Not a whole lot of shelf ice where I was either and probably less with a couple of warm days coming up. The feeders looked a little tough though.

From Ellis Cove upstream looked like salmon season. When the temps warmed up Thurs aft. and Fri
the fish were feeding on the bugs hot and heavy. If you were using naturals the fishing was exceptional.
By Friday around 1:30-2:00 the water temps dropped 3-4 degrees and they went off the bugs back to spawn/eggs. Fishing was still great, just had to be aware of what was going on.

Typical-- I fished  little on Wednesday and it got heated on Thursday.
Hey Dime- remember your "purist" battles a few weeks ago on the other forum? You ought to read some of the Hunting stuff - WOW

Good luck with them Dime- as much as I like to hunt and would like to be involved in a hunting post I am finding that they are pretty much just PA boards- a guy from Ct cant generally even get a comment back- they just go around the post and keep arguing and slamming each other about PA stuff.
Think  I"m pretty much done even trying over there.
