Striper rigs

Just curious what you guys are using for striper fishing. I am looking to put 4 new rod/reel rigs on the boat this year. Will be mainly pulling baits and plugs.

I have Ambassader 6000 reels with 20lb spiderwire and 6 ft of vanish 14lb leader.
7' shimano rigger rods. Works well. Sometimes drifting over the school and throw jigs using spinning gear.
Haven,t had a boat in awhile so maybe some one that targets stripers more often can give ya better advice. Good luck, John

This will likely give you a good starting point. It is mostly salt water based though. If you are targetting the Raystown purebreds, I'd imagine most of the northern Chesapeake type boating rods would transfer rather well. The southern guys jig the rock piles, and need short stiff rods that can handle 10oz. weights and hangups. I'd imagine there are a few Raystown junkies that frequent that site. There are a few on this one, but is a pretty tight lipped lake, as for reports and techniques.

If you are looking more at the hybrids, your standard medium action combos work just fine. If you are trolling for them, get 2 that will handle planer boards would be a good idea. From what I have read, motors spook them (both pure and hybrid). Although, I have caught a few pulled about 50 yards directly behind the puttering of a 9.9 at 1-2mph.
