Buck hunting, especially here in PA, has become nothing more than a d$ck measuring contest for those lucky enough to get one and feel the need to validate their 'superior' hunting skills. The whole friggin' thing makes me sick; and so do the minority of hunters who support this garbage, and for whom all game laws are slanted now......I guess we now measure our manhood in terms of B&C scores....lame..... Rough season buddy? Just for the record, you are in the minority of hunters regarding AR. Last I saw over 60% of PA hunters supported ARs. However, we do appreciate your misguided whining and it has been duly noted.

ORIGINAL: thedrake Looks like the complainers are gonna hijack another one. ^^^ Unfortunately, you are correct. It is already too late now. I was really hoping no one would read into this thread anymore than it was intended to be. I was simply impressed that some bucks from PA were regarded as "the biggest bucks of 2010" and thought others would want to see it.

Definately some dandies in the pics. But then some are also taken from Florida, Rhode Island and others known for their big buck shortcomings. IF a hunter is serious about hunting for a top end buck such as those pictured, they arent gonna play the ridiculous odds of FLorida, Rhode Island, West Virginia Pa etc. They are gonna go where theyve always gone. The midwest, Texas, or one of the Canadian provinces..

and some folks still say we are not harvesting more bigger bucks ????? Nice bucks for sure---would you care to post the results of their contest from 1999, 2000, or 2001 to back up that statement or is that just your personal opinion.

Yo EH....more like a rough decade.... I find your figure of 60% of hunters support AR as laughable, but let's assume that is accurate. That is 60% of the deer hunters THAT ARE LEFT 9 years into this nonsense. Soon it will be 100% of the few of you that remain. Have fun funding the entire cost of the PGC at that time. I don't want to hear any of you supporters of this junk science ****ing then..... Zug

I just spoke with a fellow today that is in his 70's who been hunting Venango County for over 50 years and he said his racks before the AR were all just average spikes to small basket 8 point bucks, The last couple years his group has gotten a few wide ten pointers and very nice heavy and wide eight pointers and they see plenty of doe still. This is the same where I hunt in northern butler county. There are some dandy buck shot each year and its getting better as time goes on. I can't see how anyone thinks the AR isn't working. I know that 90% od the people I know or associate with are for the AR but not the doe hunting seasons being as long as they are. If they would limit doe back to 3 days you would see alot more smaller bucks growing to BIG BUCKS every year. Stop some of the button bucks from being killed and the seasons will get better. Anyone complaining about not seeing deer at all should stop doe hunting those areas for a few years it makes a big difference.

I can't see how anyone thinks the AR isn't working. Here is another way of looking at how ARs are working In2002 ,before any 2.5+ buck were produced by ARs,we harvested 52,900 2.5+ buck and in 2009 we harvested 55,200 . So after 8 years of ARS and the new DMP the number of 2.5+ buck increased by 2,300 for a 4% increase while the total buck harvest decreased by 47%. Also, only around 28,000 2.5+ buck were the result of ARs so only around 5% of the buck hunters in PA benefited from ARs by harvesting a 2.5+ buck produced as a result of ARs. And, BTW, breeding rates, productivity and the breeding window has not improved as predicted and BB make up a higher percentage of the male deer harvested than before ARs were implemented.
