    I tied a bunch of wax worms and maggots this fall. I had steelhead in mind, but I see no reason they wouldn't work for perch. I bet they do real well if I hooked a shiner on. I'll try them next time I go out and let you know how they work.

    If you search for hise wax worm pattern you'll find a pic. The maggots are basically the same thing scaled down with no feet(nubs).

    Never thought I'd be posting on this board...
    probably shouldn't, as I call them jigs, ...and the real 'fly guys' probably see this as sacrilege...
    but, figured I would since you aren't gettng much of a response.
    No vise or fancy tools, feathers or hair...
    Just wire wrapped hooks (#14 dry fly & #12 wet fly) w/ various paint jobs.
    small wire's .030, bigger wire's just rosin core solder.

    And they work.

    yea they look like tear drops nice. I just started tieing fly this summer then i moved in the late fall and havent been back to it yet. I was just looking for somethin differen to use on the ice . Thank u

    man i bet those would get carp out of the margins in a hurry. i've used tear drops with one maggot to cover the rest of the hook many times to get big carp right off the bank. good stuff.
