Sugar Lake ICE report....

Just went over to check the ice on Sugar Lake.
2 inches of white honey comb.
2 inches of black ice.
Little snow on top.
If we're lucky maybe this weekend.

    I checked it Saturday on the hotel side & wasn't comfortable on it.
    First hole had 5", but 1"-1.5" was a slush layer I broke through.
    Went out a little further & was down to 4" including the garbage, so only about 2.5"-3" of good ice.
    Someone had gone out further than me, I wasn't up for following their trail though.
    Talked to a guy checking the launch side & he had about the same over there.

    Drove by the lake tuesday and I saw 1 shack about 200-300 yards out from the launch. Im gonna guess good ice, still dont have my gear yet (it was all broken on my last move from the Navy, and not replaced yet), but I will have it soon and im looking forward to hitting the ice again. (gonna try to talk the wife outta n auger this year.
