After your bucktails are dried and ready to use, I would wash and rinse them with dish soap a couple of times. The feathers and fur I use that have come from sources other than a fly shop tend to be a little oily and dirty, just the natural result of living in the outdoors, but it makes the individual hairs on a bucktail stick together so they don't stack well. I've done this with turkey feathers, grouse feathers, and bucktails, and it gets rid of the oil and dirt just fine.
