Backchannel at Harmarville, frozen?

Anyone been over the T-pike or down to the Allegheny near the backchannel in Harmarville?  Just wondering if it is starting to freeze yet.  There was a lot of ice on the Yough this AM at Sutersville when I drove over.  Hoping to get a time or two more to try for eyes but the water still needs to come down some.  This next storm might be more rain that snow south of I-80 so the river might be fubar'd until it freezes...if it freezes.

I noticed leaving work today that there was a considerable amount of slush in the river. This was a few miles downstream of Harmar, but I bet it is similar.

Before you say it, don't even think about getting that boat out anytime soon!!! The river is still roaring pretty good. The gauge indicates it is about 2' higher than what I consider my upper limit for boating down there. Its going be a while before it gets back to decent levels.

I was thinking 3' drop and it ain't coming down too fast.  Probably freeze over in the back channel before we get one last chance to head out.

Unfortunately, I think you are right. When the river comes back down to decent levels, providing there is no ice I may strap on the waders for one last hoorah before spring.

So you fish the lower Allegheny. I live in Springdale and have been known to wet a line between Lock 9 and Lock 3. My eye fishing is just about done for the year, but come Spring (or maybe before if the ice clears) I'll be jiggin' and using Lindy rigs to catch a few walleye. If you ever want to get together come Spring, shoot me a PM or contact me here. Have a great holiday!

Anyone been over the t-pike lately or down to the Harmarville launch?  Is the backchannel frozen over?
