suicide?
Couple friends of mine on sat. were floating in a canoe on the Shenango ri ver deer hunting. They got to their vehicle, only to find out thy left their keys in the other truck. So one went up on bridge to call for a ride, No cell service.Lucky a guy came by he knew, to run him back to the launch point. But while he was on the bridge, he saw two gut piles below. No drag marks or tracks, as he was wondering what happen, this old couple hollered down to them. Seems earlier, some guy in a truck was crossing the bridge, and there were three deer on it and in a panic ,they jumped 30+ft one made it but the other two died, He gutted them and took the meat. I think it was around New Hamburg. TRUE STORY

I think it was around New Hamburg. TRUE STORY I had three deer jump off of an overpass that crosses Route 120 near Ridgway a number of years ago. They were all three dead on the highway beneath the overpass. A about two or three years ago I had five that jumped off of a highway bridge in Johnsonburg and onto the railroad beneath. Four of them were dead when I got there and I had to dispatch the fifth one due to its injuries. I think they get out on the overpasses and then something scares them and they just jump over the edge trying to escape. R.S. Bodenhorn

We have at least one every year jump off the Route 99 bridge near our house and get killed.

They do it here in Washington county all the time on the new turnpike 43. There are some really long and high bridges in rural wooded areas that once the deer get on them they have to run a long way before there is once again dirt beneath their feet. a lot jump off before they make it usually with 2 or 3 following the leader. I heard the state was discussng adding fences on top of the jersey barriers to stop this from happening. There are roads that travel under theses bridges, and someone would get injured if a deer landed on their car from 100+ feet.

WOW !! I feel so terrible now. All this time I've been blaming Alt & Co. for all the deer disapearing! This is really wild stuff! You gotta feel sorry for those animals to have to die that way.

Would these deer be considered brigdekill or roadkill ? What wildlife laws would apply for taking the meat or antlers?

Maybe they're depressed because the PGC won't post their pics on its website.

I'd post them, but you'd never see them through all your tears.

Only a mere 270ft - I remember that accident but foggy on the details, it's been a few years. Horrific ride !

On another thread I said I wasn't old. I stand corrected. I have college degrees older than him.
