Elk Creek

Hit up Elk at the Legion hole today.
Scattered fish and you had to work for them..

Wish the landowner would put a No trespassing sign on the right bank of the creek upstream from there..
I see the posters on the left side but saw none on the right.
I was reminded by another fisherman that both sides were posted.
Luckily I hadn't gone past the posters yet.

Couple pics..

Sometimes they just don't cooperate..

Question: How far above the upper Legion hole does the posted property start? I haven't fished that stretch in years, but I used to spend a lot of time above there.

Can someone answer a question for me, I don't want to burn any spots, can someone PM me who has some knowledge about elk.  Like to ask a question about some access areas.  Thanks.

That area has been posted 20 plus years........those signs are hard too see because they face the upper bank area. Ran into a fisherman years ago and he told me I was on posted property. I told him nicely I never saw the signs so I started to head back downstream. He was nice enough to say to me that if I wanted I could stay and fish that day but please don't come back. I take it he was one of the owners that lived on that side of the stream. I honored his word and I never fished it again after that day. I call that area " The Greens ."

Now I'm confused...hasnt the creek from the "high bank" on the left side (if walking upstream) to the trestle and above to 90 always been posted? Is it now posted downstream from the high bank?

A little way up from the pavilion area up is posted, there is a little sign on the cliff wall that says "Boundary" I was asked to leave that area a few days ago, I asked a few questions, he said that the area used to be open, but is now posted by the landowner and some guides got together and got a lease or easement, forgot the exact term he said, and now have private access to that area, he said the land goes from a little past the pavilion to up past the tressel. he said there is then a small area of land owned by the fish commission or w/e but all the land around it is posted so you cant get to it, then up past that is the private fishing clubs land, not sure how far that goes, not sure about anything about the area near gudgenville bridge, just heard that area had some really amazing spots.

The beckman road area is not posted as I have a friend who knows the landowner there, but there is no way to get to the water from the road w/out walking a long ways through his property which isnt allowed, but the area is posted upstream towards follys which didnt used to be posted, bummer b/c I wld totally walk down from follys b/c there is some really good water down there, also the land downstream of the beckman area is posted too, new this year from what my buddy said.

Seems like these guys are using these areas for hunting b/c I have seen a couple tree stands.

Wish we cld get access to these areas b/c there are times when the fish make it all the way up to I-90 while the water high and we never get a chance to fish for them.

Always liked that little water fall area above the pavillion...there are still a lot of great areas to fish but how much more access needs to be lost before license fees begin to fall because anglers are limited? Is it much of a reach after that to see the FC end the stocking program? Will the "posters" even care?

There's been a tree stand at the cable down from folly's for a while now, looking out over & across the creek...looks like that would be a hell-of-a-drag up out of there.
