Boot needed

Gentlemen, I am hoping that somebody can steer me in the right direction on a need for boots. As you may know I fell on Sunday right after the "One Fly" and I screwed my right leg and ankle up pretty well. So now I need a high, very supportive, wading boot that will keep my ankle from turning. I'm talking work boot high. I'm even thinking of putting studs in a pair of my old logging boots just to get some support. I am having to wer an ankle brace almost all day and I'm still Dr'ing. I seriously can't walk in normal wading boots. Keep twisting my ankle.
Of course my Dr. doesn't want me to fish anymore this year but I don't listen. So anybody got any suggestions?
Oh and yes, I know I'm a klutz who falls down too much.

Try an ankle brace with rigid plastic or one of the lace up ones.
    Higher is better also

Marty, I'm already wearing one of those for outside. Won't fit in waders (I tried). Have to put the support on the outside of the wader, & inside the boot.

Those old logging boots you mentioned sound like the ticket, at least to me.  I put sheet metal screws in some old boots this year and they did well.  If your stocking foot waders fit in those boots comfortably, I'd put a bunch of sm screws around the outside of the sole for traction and have at it.

Here is a pic of my Korker Streamborn boots. I dont know of any wading boots that go higher. I love these boots. Great traction with the studded felt and rubber cleats for winter. Both additional soles to purchase but worth it. The boots are also pretty light as well. I have no comments on the Boa Lace System because I didnt get that option. As you can see in the pic that the tape is inside the boot. Hence 7" of support from top of sole. Good luck. Hope this helps.

As far as screws go, I got some replacement screws for "stableicers" which are a slip on traction deal and I screwed them into my wading shoes. Google stablicers and get the replacement cleates ($5 for 50) they do not slip and are perfect for the streams. Combine those with whatever boot you get, if it does not have cleates already, and you will be happy!

    Jack,
see if you can find any Weinbrenner boots. Or get any boot 2 sizes big and wear you brace on the outside of your waders. Boot over that.
Believe me I've tried every thing possible to get myself back on the water. I have a splint type brace that fits over my breathables and with big enough boots (Size 14) it works great. My splint goes up the leg pretty high and I put an ace bandage under and over it to protect it from rubbing a hole in my waders. Take your waders to your doc and have him make a splint for you that goes over and still gives enough support. I did, he laughed at me but did it.

Unfortunately I still cant put enough weight on my leg to get in the water and wade yet. But when I can, I'll be ready.

I believe Hard work really makes the man, but everyone should wet a line, every now and then.

Bug you and me both. Think I'll have to do that. Looks like a day at the brace shop.

    Jack,
Also check Weinbrenner, Danner and the old (closeout) Simms guide boot. All  have stiff upper ankle support.
I got 10 yrs out of my Weinbrenner's. Had em resoled twice. Good ankle protection. All come in studded felt.
All need to be one size greater than your shoe size.

get a studded sole 1st and for extra support there is a product called active ankle.  volleyball players use them to help prevent ankle sprains
