some video

Been huntin' with the camera a little bit.

Seeing some deer. Buddy nicked a dandy with 9 inch tines that was standing under me two Fridays ago. I didn't have a chance to get the camera up. Saturday at 3:40 I turn around and there comes a big 8 pt. Buddy, once again.. misses. I got that one on video. Can't see much as his camera doesn't have zoom. I'll post some others later.

Anyway, here's a bear video. Cub first, then another cub out of sight, then mom.

    Cool video SK.

I saw something the other day that reminded me how cruel Mother Nature can be...

About 4:30 while on stand, I see a sow and 2 cubs coming my way.  Seeing a bear where I hunt is very rare.  The second cub is lagging way behind.  I put the 10X binos on it(80yds) and notice it is favoring it's hind right leg, holding it off of the ground.  It's leg is badly mangled.  It stops every few yards to lick it all the while bawling.  They came back past me about 45 minutes later and he/she was still moaning in pain with every step as far as I could hear.

I wasn't a big fan of that experience.

No fun seeing animals hurt.   Non-hunters seem not able to understand why it bothers us more than the general public.

Buddy hit a bear last night on the way home from hunting.  For those of you familiar with Spruce creek, it was on shovel works road, where the big pull off it is to fish the little j.   There was stomach contents on this vehicle.  Went by today and there was a blood spot.. no bear.

Very small 8 pt.   Same tree I shot the deer out of a week earlier.   Despite this buck making a little noise on this windy day, it wasn't 5 minutes later, I turn around and there's a dandy 5 yards under me.  I never heard him.  Ben nicked him.

Button buck.  He didn't pay much attention to the can.

After nicking that biggen,Ben misses a 16 in 8 pt 22 hours later at 3:40 pm.   He came in cutting the wind, ears back, and side stepping in wide open woods.   A bit rutty I'd say.   Despite being able to see about 100 yards, he surprised us at 20.  The shot happened fast and the rest of the video is my shirt as I tried to call him back in.  He came back to about 60 yards but thought otherwise.

This camera doesn't have zoom.  Gonna have to get another one for next year.

    Cool video, 'Kype.
