waters going down

Looks like they are gonna drop the water to 500 at 7 tonight, have really been enjoying the higher flows.

Yep, it's been perfect recently. Running between 900 and 1150 with run-off.
Throw in the rainy nites to perk up the fish and you couldn't ask for better water.
Probably the beginning of the end of good flows unless a few good storms pass thru.

    Tight lines,

True. I fished mostly under 300 last year. It is nice when all the fish move into my spots though. Makes up for the hard fished days with 1 or 2 fish. I have had a good run the last 5 years only skunked once(2 solid hookups though) in many, many trips. Im sure there will be plenty of fish throughout the river.

If youve only been skunked twice consider yourself lucky. Many a trip in the middle of winter when the water is slushy and fish lathargic have i been skunked, no hook ups. Kinda hurts to talk about it.

Your using the wrong bait. 10ft leader and 8-16 oz weighted treble hook(depending on flow). Oh and I like blue sponge sometimes red. Plus use a gaft to reduce breakoff during landing.

500-750cfs is my choice for best wading conditions and still offers the fish some good hiding areas.

atleast 335 is still fishable though. lets hope it's not one of those 185 or 285 winters, i hate those. there is still select waters though that can produce good numbers of fish. definitely not good for a drift boat. it also makes the upper river fish very picky and smart... hint hint...

I think the boat may be put away for a bit, 43 and 40 boats last two trips and with the 335 your stuck up top. Gonna fly up friday and fish down low on foot, it should be good just miss that bigger water already. I know im ready for a big freeze and some deep snow, steelhead weather not this 5o's stuff, plus I got a itch to ride my sled.
