Rain on the way

Hi Guys....

Here is my question... Erie is expecting a little over an inch of rain, Is that a good amount of rain to bring in fish? I usually don't fish for Steelies until Archery is over but I am wondering this for the One Fly?

Thanks!
AJ

I'm too far away to verify any conditions...but I'd bet that we need that amount 2 or 3 times to really move the fish.

Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach him how to fish and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day.

any rain that raises water levels will allow the fish to move easier so in a way yeah, fish will come in... even without the rain some are still making their way in and up.  water levels fall just as fast as they rise right now though, which is why fish are scattered like everyone says

One inch of rain will blow out the creeks making them high and muddy.  Whether or not Erie actually gets a full inch today is questionable though, looking at the radar the rain looks pretty spotty right now and hasn't even registered on the current conditions page.  Looks like it might start to get more steady later in the day though, if future radar is accurate.

an inch could be a blow out if it came down over a relatively short time. if over 2 days, like to not be a blow out. also depends on the amount of water in the ground.

No doubt this is all true....

Given the drought like conditions for the last month or so the trees/vegetation will be sucking up lots of water til the leaves drop. A couple all day soakers will be needed to bring the water table back up to the point where the creeks can sustain at least a reasonable flow.

All I can say is I hope you get more there than we have received here in northern VA.  Predictions were for 1 to 2 inches; so far we've had a trace and the sun is out now...

Finally started the annoying drizzle on the west side of the county around 12 pm, and became steady around 2 pm. But I don't see us getting an inch today. I believe no matter what the conditions are for the next few weeks, the guys will find fish for the one fly.
