Longer drift coming your way!!!

I got my 13 foot st. croix SCIII back today from Skip. He put the handle on and did the finish I wrapped my own guides. I'll tell you what whhen I first started this adventure I got very frustrated. Mainly because my kids where right there bumping the rod, taking the thread, moving stuff around, and mainly just doing what little kids do best. So after that I almost threw in the towel, but I didn't, thats right swinger I didn't give up. I put the rod away until I had a peacful house and within two days I had all the guides wrapped on. It was a great experience to do this part myself but the next one will be done completely by myself. I guess I got hooked on building rods its a great way to escape reality and when you're done, the final product is really rewarding. I will post picks later when I have a chance.

The reason I built this 13 foot rod is because I have a new custom reel being made that will match up with this rod perfectly. When the reel is done I will post picks of that also.

Also I have to say thanks to Skip for all his help and from DJ for guide ideas.

Don't worry swinger,I'll have a switch in his hand before too long, and the pin will be put to rest.

Oh come on now I'm not done with the pin yet. I have nothing against fly fishing I'm sure Bob will get me swinging flies before to long but right now its just not where I'm at. Besides theres not any water in Erie where you can effectively swing flies.

    Or justify a 13'0 rod.

There is good water to swing in PA. But it isnt there all the time.

It's not given up,it has just become to easy and the challenge was gone.Watching  someone cast a switch/spey rod really got my interest, last year, after putting one in my hands,i knew it was just a matter of time, just like the pin. There was some water on the SR  in the upper fly area that was untouchable with the fly rod unless i waded mid river, now i can hit the opposite side and stand on dry land, with no back casting.I still feel the pin is the most effective way to fish fast water, which you all know i love, but that tug on a good swing is hard to beat.Itchin to get on some waters to the west that i can really swing on!I suppose when the new CP reel is done i will have to get another rod,or get Scott to build me one, anybody need a roommate?

Mxdad66, the fixtures are being made this week to make the reels.  I'm hoping to have them by the end of next week.
