Allegheny River at Tarentum

I got a phone call today needing guys to stock muskys tomorrow on a few of the lower stretches of the allegheny. I got the tarentum pool, i've never been down this low on the allegheny and looking for areas to put the fish since i'm unfamiliar with the area. I'm not looking for fishing spots just calm areas with weeds or wood to put the fish. If anyone has a boat and is able to help also please PM me and i will relay you the info on times and whats needed. Thanks in advance!
Joel

You will be hard pressed to find many weeds in that pool. The only area that comes to mind would be a few hundred yards below the Natrona dam on the Burrell side. There is a little inlet with some calmer water that has some weeds in it.

I hope all goes well, this is a truly great thing you will be doing. I wish I was able to help, but the combination of having no boat at the moment and work will be preventing that.

    Esox Hunter,
Thanks for the info! I'm gonna head down early in the am before the truck is scheduled to arrive and have a look around for an hour or two. I think all will go well, hopefully helps a few more fish make it.

Stocking went well. Managed to spread out around 700 of the total 1100 that were put in the tarentum area. Most ranged from 5 to 9" and looked healthy and were spunky. Seemed to be plenty of weed and grass beds to conceal the little guys to aid in their survival. should only be a benefit for the guys who fish the area. Thanks to Lovegren69 and Esox Hunter for their advice on areas to release the fish!

    +1

I am looking forward to the results down the road in that pool, especially considering it is my "home stretch" on the Allegheny.

I always feel you gotta give back to sport. Hopefully it made a difference in the long run of things. Should be stocking next week up our way. Looking forward to that.
