Warm weather fishing

Just doesn't seem right fishing for Steelies in a tshirt..No frozen eyes, fingers or reels...
Think I will have to carry in a bag of ice to stick my hands in and make them numb, then it will seem like I should be fishing for steel....

I went to PR today for some fly supplies and watched all the guys in chest waders coming in just dripping sweat. Did not matter if they were breathables or not. Days like this I go out in a pair of sandals and shorts. The fish don't seem to mind.

I remember one of my first times coming up. I had neos and the temps were in the 80's. I soon shed the heavy shirt and was fishing in a t-shirt, and neos. When we quit for the day i was severely sunburned, and soaked in sweat from the chest down. I actually had soaked pants below the knee and wet socks. But I didn't care. I caught a lot of fish.

We've had all these posts on keeping you feet warm, maybe we should have one on keeping cool.

    My advice,
Ya got to duct tape those flip flops on so you don't loose one down the creek.

They're awesome. I have a pair exactly like the ones pictured and I wear em for wet wading all the time.

Amy, I got mine at Elite Runners & Walkers on Steubenville Pike, though a friend of mine that saw mine got his pair at Little's in Squirrel Hill. They're awesome for wading, especially after you wear them for walks and hikes in the woods and get used to the semi-barefoot walking (very different from the boot-shod stumbling around). That style, the KSO, does a pretty good job of sealing your foot off from pebbles, leaves, sticks, and the like. A few grains of sand will make their way in, and silty mud will rinse in with the water, but its negligible in most flowing water, and cleaning it out is as simple as finding a rock to sit on and taking each one off and rinsing it quickly.

Highly recommended for anyone who wet wades.

Last time I wet waded I found a leech on my leg. that ended it right then and there. I'll sweat.

Shorts and old sneaks are the norm for us at the big Juniata. They don't keep Hellgramites out although!

yeah, I wear old sneakers sometimes too.
I might have to try those out. but I dunno, they kinda look like those socks with separated toes and that's just weird
eh, their just bugs, they won't hurt ya. throw some salt on those leeches.
my son thought it was the coolest thing ever when he got a leech on his ankle in canada :)

My problem with wet wading is that as my legs get older it is harder on the old knees and ankles.

It was unusually warm in Alaska this year too. Never saw a drop of rain, and the temps were in the 70's Unheard of.
