Afternoon Delight
Took off from work at 11am today and headed for mid river in hopes of finding some of those fresh cohos. Was greeted by an nearly empty parking lot, thought this is good. Headed down to one of my favorite spots and there was the usual 5 or so guys down below it. Fished for probably 3 hours with 3 hookups landing one beautiful coho 12lbs, hooked 2 kings that I could not control on my 7wt. First king came up head shakeing then just headed upstream never breaking stride, drag tightened as much as I dare and palming the real, couldnt even slow him down, broke me off. Second gave me a few head shakes, couple circles, a leap then came unbuttoned. Cant wait till friday, getting the boat out and plugging the top end. The fish are so fresh and big this year, but I would take 12lb cohos all day long, and leave them 30 lb kings to the young guys!
