Clear Creek SF-Kennerdell Tract

Hi all,

A few weeks back, I was in the area and wanted to try and fish the kennerdell tract of the clear creek state forest, and I was pretty bummed out when I got there to find the gate to the state forest closed. There really wasn't anywhere else to park that wasn't private property, so I just drove to oil creek instead. Is that gate usually closed? Is there any other way to get inside the forest (besides floating?)

I think it's walk in only. You'd be better off parking in Kennerdell near the river and hitting the river that way (assuming your talking about fishing the river).

Yes I was referencing fishing, but for whatever reason I did not mention that I was hoping to fish.

Is there anyone in town that I can legally park without getting towed/having my car end up on blocks/etc?

I  think you can park by the bridge just before you cross the river. There is a trail that runs for miles along the the river. This time of year you may be able to park at the campground and walk to the river. (ask at the campground office)

There were indeed cars parked by the bridge. That is where the closed gate was located. Unfortunately, there was quite a few kayakers parked there, so I could not fit my vehicle to park.

The gate is only open for early hunting seasons, go figure that one out. Everyone just parks right around the gate. If you cross the bridge and make a right, go past about 3 or 4 houses/camps, there is a road that takes you right down to the river. Good smallie spot.

Cross the bridge and turn left, go thru "town" and follow that road all the way to the end. Another goos smallie spot.
