7 WT Grip

Here's a new grip for a members rod

Its a combo of corks and hardwoods

The wood is Black Walnut thanks to Bings and the checkerboard is Black Walnut/Maple

Its going on a 9' 4 PC 7 WT RX7

The reel seat is on the lathe now it's also going to be Black Walnut

It still needs a couple coats of finish

Pretty sweet lookin grip.....does the wood add any substantial weight to it?

It does add some weight but not enough to notice in the hand  Now if I were to build one as light as possible I wouldn't want the wood in there....  I would say it adds 10 to 15% if i were to guess...  I make up for it using SF Guides usually..

I really don't know how long it took...  It gets done in a lot of steps....  Cutting ....  assembly......  Turning sanding   Finishing  reaming  ...    I would say about 5 or 6 total man hours  but it really takes days with the dry time ....
