steelhead set up HELP

Guys let ne now if this is wrong
I set up my 10 1/2' rod with 8' of 12lb flor and a 4' of 6lb flor for my tippet I will be putting a strike indicator on the 12lb and adjust my depth on water conditions
Will this also work if I chose not to us indicator

Am I at least close to doing it right?

    That will work..No need for fluoro for the non tippet part of your leader.
     
    I don't use strike indicators, and don't understand why it would matter how you construct a leader if you use one.
     
    I limit the length of my leader by making it shorter than the rod to keep from reeling in the loop at the end of the flyline past the tip guide - I don't bother with the nail knot/goop method. 
     
    The reason I keep the leader shorter is because I have seen a few guys snap the tips off their rods when trying to land a fish in close quarters when the fish makes a last bolt for freedom and the loop gets hung up in the guide..
