i usually go with glo bugs, mainly white size 14 with a red blood dot, but red also produces fish for me. streamers and wooly buggers are also always in my fly box for steelhead

for fresh steelhead, I like white zonkers in size 8 as the fish are accustomed to chasing bait fish.....then, I'll switch to sucker spawn sacks in pink crystal meth size 10 or 12...those are killer in ERie.....single orange eggs are nice with a black stone fly chaser.  I like this combo when I am fishing in more heavily stained water.

For me I have four go-to patterns. Simple speys, Intruders, a halo estaz egg and an articulated stonefly nymph. Of course size and colors vary with the water conditions.
