Labor Day Weekend Trip

Heading to Erie for the weekend for some R.R.Taking the wife and my daughter and want to take them fishing.Not real particular on what we catch but what species of fish should I be prepared for?In other words what gear do I need?I plan on going to the Elk acsess area.Are smallmouth still there?

    im not to familiar with elk access but if your looking for a friendly answer on these forums you just better keep looking.

    Weather looks bad for the weekend. NW blow on Saturday means shore fishing a bust everywhere. Cats at night at the mouth of Elk or fishing off the Presque Isle Piers may be your best bet to get into some fish. The shoreline at Trout run at night and early AM(before daylight) should give up some steel if this cold front comes through.

    elk access didnt produce anything eventful for a couple of my buddies this past week, stick with the mouth toward evening if you go and early morning before daybreak

    Try the piers they start producing this time of year.Can be good for perch or crappies.
