DHALO lure question...again

Yeah I know we tend to beat this to death and somebody probably asked this somewhere already, but there's a section of the regs for the Delayed Harvest Artificial Lures Only section that confuses me.

Specifically prohibited are the use of molded facsimiles or replicas of insects, earthworms, fish eggs, fish, or any invertebrate or vertebrate either singly or in combination with the other materials

My confusion is about using Rapalas. Are they a molded facsimile of a fish? How about Rebel Craws and Bugs, are they molded replicas? I have used these lures in front of WCOs and they haven't griped but does this rule leave me open to a WCO having a bad day?

those lures you mentioned are OK to use.
facsimile or replica applies to exact copies of insects, earthworms, fish eggs, etc......

Those regs are outdated... You need to look in your most recent regulation book. Your reading signs from 5+ years ago that are no longer valid. they took the molded facsimile part out. I use egg patterns and rubber worms all the time.

Is it hard to cast a rapala with a fly rod? Just wondering.

Thanks egg_drifter, you were right. I went into the current reg and it states:

  • Fishing may be done with artificial lures only constructed of metal, plastic, rubber or wood, or with flies and streamers constructed of natural or synthetic materials. All such lures may be used with spinning or fly fishing gear.
  • The use or possession of any natural bait, baitfish, fishbait, bait paste and similar substances, fish eggs (natural or molded) or any other edible substance is prohibited.I'm glad they rewrote that to make it clearer! Now I just hafta watch out for:

    • Taking baitfish or fishbait is prohibited.

cause when the trout are ignoring me I'll start casting to big chubs and shiners in a heartbeat! :D

    • Even though I do not use them, would trout beads be prohibited ? They are molded, what about Moe eggs, I use them ?
