French Creek This Weekend

I will be at my uncle's camp in Segeartown this weekend. How has the fishing been on the creek lately? Not really going to stray to far from camp, just wondering if any particular species have been biting that I should target. Any live bait and/or lures that have been producing?? Thanks for any input !!

French is pretty low at the moment (436 cfs at Meadville according to USGS streamgauge) and we fished last weekend from Utica down to Franklin....so up your way it may be worse.  I think live biat always works best on that creek but rebelcraws got a few fish for us. We went for smailles on that trip

Where's his camp at? above grotto park or below? water is green, slightly up (not as shallow as last weekend) and getting chilly, proably lost 8-10* in the past 2 weeks so it's getting chilly..... fished for a bit last sunday and did not even have a hit! only was there for 45 min though. There are fish to be caught though, rapalas (cd7) in black and gold are a good bet for some action! good luck!

Thanks for the updates guys! I have not been there in a while but I believe we pass Grotto Park on our left while driving and his camp is just a short drive on some dirt roads after that. Not sure if that is above it or below it on the creek though. I am assuming that the drop in water temp might be a good thing, right? The river down here in Pittsburgh feels like bath water.

Take noisy buzzbaits, white spinnerbaits, black/silver rapalas, swimbaits, flukes, tubes, Pop R's and some live bait if you can. That should cover it!

I'm headed there soon but at this writing the Utica gauge is right where I like it. Enjoy!

    beerman,
your above us there by about a mile. I am guessing you go past grotto, take a right over the tracks before the bridge then either 1.5 miles or 2.5 miles you make a left...... =-) great fishing up that way! walleye, pike smallies, you name it, it's swimming there.

    hope you did well,

Hello again all - I will be heading up again this weekend . . . How's the action been. I will be fishing mostly from shore and maybe taking out the canoe for a bit. Got a few nice smallies and some rock bass on my last trip.
