Scouted walnut this afternoon just to see if the creek had changed any (new logs, ect...) walked up to route 5 from the mouth, and didn't see a single fish, and the creek is extremely low and clear, little flow and probably wont hold any fish till we get a blow out or somethin Even stood at the wall for a while just to see if a fish would surface, and nothin, back to the fly tiein station for me

new castle got pounded with rain a few days ago if only the strom were about 85 miles north, then maybe creek levels would have a steady flow

Report: Caught my first steelhead of the season today. As always a blue/silver Krocodile got it done. Very small window of opportunity this morning. Once the sun came over the tree tops causing a great flash from the spoon action was on but the fish soon moved out

I’m wondering if this was at Trout Run, if so my prediction was right on.

commander,

Just what is so hard to believe about that authors report? Sounds like pretty normal circumstances for targeting early steelhead to me . There have been fish around for awhile now in the mornings, don't expect to find them past 9am though.

didnt say there werent fish and didnt say people arent catching them. i dont fish the cricks and have no idea how to fish them. for all i know there may be 1000's of fish in there. to tell you the truth, based on years past, i would have expected to have seen a pic of one caught by you a few weeks ago.
