pond popping

a couple of weeks ago a fellow worker asked if i wanted to fish a private pond. he said he and his son have been catching the bass on top water lures.
i couldn't resist, so i met him at 6:30pm one day and followed him to the pond.
i took the 7wt., only because he said there were BIG bass in the pond, and my popper collection.
i didn't catch any huge bass but the blue gill were bigger than pond gills i'm used to seeing.

i couldn't get the popper out of this guys mouth to see the hook so i had to break off the popper.

 
we plan on hitting the pond tomorrow eve. i think i'll take a glass rod.

    looks like you need to take bigger poppers, nice fish
