motels again

our club has the e j reserved for sun. mor. trip.
now some of us plan on coming up sat. go to
race track/ casino then get a motel for the nite
that way we won't have to get up early sun. &
make the drive.
is there any half decent motels that are close by
both these places that won't charge you a arm and
leg to stay in? in fact we may want to get several
rooms at maybe a lower rate.
any help appreciated. thank you

I know that the El Patio Motel has a nice pool and bar and offers a discount rate to fishermen who show them their license.  It is located on the corner of Peninsula and West 8th Street.

el patio is like $49 a night or $39 a night, i can't remember... it changes during summer.  (Winter rates are only $29 a night)  They also put in a restaurant called "off the hook" with pretty good food for cheap and they're open til 10.  you'll be 20 minutes from the casino and 5 minutes from the bayfront

the holiday inn or days inn, whichever is next to doc holidays up near the casino is only $42 a night and you get wifi and a nice room with two beds.  puts you like 8-10 minutes off the bay and 5 minutes from the casino

presque isle inn next to waldameer doesnt look bad, don't know the pricing though.

on colds list for dummies all the motels listed
are the big chains and checking their rates they
are lowest about $139 and most around $169 to even
    299 on one of them,
what i'm looking for is the smaller local owners
motels , that i'm sure there are.. and i'm sure
some of you stayed in them and know how their
rates are and how clean they are.
i know several around northeast but would like
to get a little closer to erie thats all.

We stayed at the Golden Triangle a couple of weeks back. It wasn't the nicest place, but it was clean. A room with 2 beds was about $60. It is about 3 miles West of 79 on Route 5. If you just looking for a place to rest your eyes after a long day of feeshin this was one of the nicer motels I have stayed in up there.

I'll second the green roof. Very nice rooms and a 1st class cleaning station for the occasional smoker that you decide to keep. Also Crawleys is just a hop away.

Clearly you didn't read the entire list. The very green roof in that is mentioned in this thread is on that list, and their most expensive room listed is cheaper than what you claim the cheapest is.

if cold and tim think i didn't check there wrong as
    i spent 4 hours checking , and don't let those $60
and $65 rates think thats what they are as you better double
them at least, also most of those motels are sold out, the
    big chain ones.
if you want proof check on any one of them for the date of
check in 08/21/10 , check out 08/22/10, before you run your
mouth off saying i didn't check.
thanks to those who give help.

There are some things to factor into the equation of the cheaper hotels. The Baybreeze has a steady stream of ambulances if you like flashing lights. The El Patio is always good for a domestic or a robbery. And the Golden Triangle and Thunderbird......well you just never know what you might find there. You can't put a price on quality entertainment.

The best part about fishing with me is you never have that annoying fish smell on your hands afterwards.
