new fly rod

So I got my new steelhead setup a few days ago and would like to do a little practice out on presque isle or somewhere nearby. Is there anywhere good to throw flys to maybe some blue gills or bass around the bays? What sorta flys would I want to pickup for such an adventure? All of my tying stuff is still back home so nothing too extravagant, maybe some hoppers or foam ants?

Find a beach, on the bay side, Wade, throw some wooly buggers or streamers (bass) or just toss out a foam beetle or ant (sunnies).

I'd say anyehwere you can wade the bay and find some room for your backcast. This time of year, the bass and panfish should be around. What about horse shoe pond, gotta be loaded with panfish ?
You won't need to work on your casting for the Erie tribs, its 99% roll cast, most fish are right there within 15' of you.
But its never a bad idea to work on your fly casting, I know mine needs some work as well.

I got my 1st lesson fly fishing yesterday evening, on the bay. I got 1 hookup on a bass that lasted for 5 seconds before it tangled me up in the weeds. I was using a black popper. Man you fly guys make fly fishing look easy. That's a way different ball game from roll casting in the crick.
