Tionesta Creek Help

This place is killin me!I fish along Jughandle Road. From Kelletville down to the lake. Other than in May from a canoe I cannot catch a fish in that section. It is a gorgeous stream. I know that they do not stock trout down that far but I target smallies and whatever else will bite a crawler, minnow, or spinner. I catch fish in the river, tailwaters, and lake but I cannot get a fish in that section AHHHHHH. It is a 5 minute drive from camp so I really would like to get to know it, but after 10 years I am thinking I either stink or there are no fish in that section. It looks like great habitat so I am leaning towards my fault.

1) Are there fish in that section? Good Numbers?
2) Techniques that have worked for you
3) General areas (rapids, slack water, pools etc)

I am drawn like a moth to a flame on that creek and am frustrated. I always stop at the section where there is old bridge supports and it looks great. Never a bite.

Thanks for letting me rant.

I like to target the riffles.  The main problem down there at this time of the year are the people swimming.  Almost every nice hole people are in.  Go real early.  Go catch some crayfish.  light line and tackle work the best. When all else fails do not forget nite crawlers or sankos.

The bridge piers near the Newtown Flats should produce well if you fish at dusk and into the evening (smallies). Nothing too big, but a lot of action on the right night.
Otherwise, fish the deeper pools that you can access - agian, dusk and into the evening are your best bets. Especially since the "swimmers" should be gone.
If you're in a canoe - the old bridge piers down towards Nebraska Bridge also fish well. So do any weedlines you can find along the shore.

I find that Rooster tails and Rebel crayfish work the best.

PS - don't forget to pick up a six pack or two from Cougar Bob's before you start!
