wading the bay

well my mom ,dad and i are going up erie for the day saturday/sunday 1 of the 2 im not really sure about depths and stuff like that im looking to wet wade shorts old shoes u guys know probly not gonna have live bait mayb crawlers i have a big assortment of lures in the 3-5'' range along with bucktail marabou jigs spinners and buzzbaits n such lookin for a few pointers mayb a place to start and places to avoid also r snakes bad in the area id hate to get bit any informatin is helpful and appreciated thanks, micahel

    Anywhere along the edge is a good place to start. I've been fishing the bay alot the last couple weeks. The water depth is about waist deep in most areas, wade out and cast towards shore. If you are planning on using crank baits plan on pulling weeds every cast. I would say try using top water lures or weedless rigs. And as far as snakes i have not seen any. hope that helps
