Lips are sealed because most access points are posted private property. If u look hard though youll find a way to the dam. Highland park dam has been slow lately. I fish the dam multiple times a week. Mostly at night for flats. Biggest so far this year for me was about 30 lbs. But when its on its one of the best spots. What are u targetting? Mouth of pine creek is very close and a fairly good spot. But they just recebtly posted that too.

Oh and one more thing. Try the new boat launch park in sharpsburgh too. The end of the kayak ramp on the end of thw parkig lot has produced a surpeising amount of walleye for me this year.

So I'm new to fishing the rivers in PA.  Previously living in the burbs I was strictly fishing streams and lakes in the Beaver and doing some fishing in Washington while at school.  I'm in the city now and don't have time to get out to those spots but live only minutes from the Mon down past the Hot Metal Bridge.  I've been doing some searching on various forums and was looking to find some good spots on ANY of the rivers that I could get to without a boat.  I'm pretty mobile on foot and heard that Highland Park was a great spot for all kinds of fish.  I'm looking for any spots with some access points by foot where I can go toss some lures in and maybe even get lucky!

I've been fishing the Hot Metal Bridge during my lunches with a friend and we have yet to catch anything - although at lunch its about 85 now so I don't expect much!

Any tips for a newbie to the city are greatly appreciated!

i know guys wade right below the dam at highland park...they say they park in sharpsburg by the highland park bridge and walk through a tunnel to get to the river and do great on walleye...

Snag...how far out from the ramp and what were you throwing

i do alot of fishing at lock 2 for walleye and flatheads right now it seems the fishing is slow i have been down there 3 or 4 times in the last 2 weeks and didn't catch a single walleye. the surface temp of the water is like 80 degrees which is way to hot for eyes. now i haven been there real early in the morning so you may pick up one if your lucky i hope you get them my river fishing is prob done until sept

REMEMBER HOW MUCH FUN YOUR FIRST BIG ONE WAS. TAKE A KID FISHING

the elks club just outside of sharpsburgh look for the creek and tunnel. this by no means is a "secret spot". every yinzer pro fish's down there, just bring a pack of dogs and chiped ham you will catch a 50# flat or a 20# eye..trust me!!!!!!

your "game fish" is my bait.....got flathead!!
