Pine Creek Trip

Have a trip coming up second week in august fishing pine creek from waterville downstream to mouth. Have fished this section quite a bit in the past for smallmouth and pickerel and had lots of fun. My question is this... a friend told me that the creek has changed since hurricaine Ivan and the smallmouth fishing is not what it was
I am not looking for any specific info other than the overall stream condition.. i'ts hard for me to believe that Pine creek could change that much.  Any info would be greatly appreciated
