Lake Aurthur

Looking for some good Cat fishing spots at the lake. We put the boat in at 528 dock. This is the fish I caught a couple weeks ago.... :)

I've caught a couple in Swamp Run (the propagation arm, middle of the 3 eastern bays) while musky fishing. You may hit more arthur guys under the Northwest PA catagory.

528 launch area is infested with them. Chum out some sweet corn and some sweet feed a few nights ahead of time. You'll haul 'em in.

A stained lake. Weeds are heavy in the areas that I fish. I mostly fish from shore but have been able to get the yak out a few times. I love this lake and have had many single digit days but every once in awhile I kill em and that what makes all the time Ive been able to put in worth it.

Like Steelys said, the lake is stained and has a good bit of veggies.  Deep structure is always a good place for bait fish to hide and attract the predetors.  I too find this to be my favorite lake.  Although, if I lived in Greenville, I probably would never fish it...

I find Pymie to be a much more productive lake to fish, and would definitely be there more if it weren't a 2.5 hour drive for me.  The panfish are definitely larger on average, and the walleye population besides years when Pymie is having issues, is hands down better than Arthur.  Pymie is bigger, likely more fish, and 1/2 the pressure of Arthur.  The only things Pymie lacks Arthur are the hybrid stripers (which happen to be my favorite) the long inlets typical of a hill land resivoir over a flatter land resevoir, and not as good of a large mouth fishery (per articles that I have read).  I personally would be fishing Shenango the most if it were equal distance.

I don't want to talk you out of Arthur by any means.  Just want to give you fair warning, that Arthur gets a lot of talk, due to it being less than an hour away from about 3 million people.  For as much pressure it receives, the fish are more than willing if you put your time into it.  Definitely worth checking out.

Can you catch stripers right now at Arthur?  I live 90 minutes away and have been struggling to find some action in this heat.

Did anyone else see the floating sun last night?  I couldn't figure out whether it was a REALLY nice setup for shooting carp with bows or it was a fish commission boat possibly electrofishing?  Regardless of what it was, it was pretty annoying.

Nighttime bowfishing is not illegal but it does have a way of ruining everyone elses fun with those lights. No different from the Walnut access at night when someone is shining a flashlight where I'm fishing every half an hour.
I was wrong about this thread being in the NW as arthur is below 80. PFBC is NW region for Arthur.
