suggestion for forum

I'm noticing a lot of people interested and talking about musky fishing these days. This is great, because maybe the fish commission will recognize this and maintain a better fishery for these beasts. With this said, would it be possible to create sub-forums for the locations. Such as a bass forum, panfish forum, walleye&pike forum, and the elusive musky forum? I just don't think the panfish guys want to be reading stuff about musky and vice versa. It would organize the site and become much easier to get information on what you're looking for.

Thanks for the consideration.

Wouldn't bother me any... They do have a carp/catfish area so I don't see why they couldn't plus like said prior it would make it easier to find threads and topics...

I agree also, not sure what fishing is anymore. Riding up and down a creek or river snaging a fish, or setting on a bank waiting for one to bite. I think the sitting steal waiting for a bite is probably more of fishing was meant to be. But everyone has there qwn way of doing things. I'll read a carp forum.

I was actually on the other side of the issue....i like carp fishing but muskies are the king of the jungle as far as im concerned. Alot of places over half of their diet is carp.

Must not be any flathead catfish in that particular jungle. If we are gonna pick a king by ability to eat carp, just pass that crown on over to the catfish. Due to mouth size, large flats can and do eat carp (and bass, and other catfish and..)far larger than a large musky can. Skis are bad dudes, but **** cats compared to the true king of the jungle.

Not a bad idead. My thoughts are the commission should have a few lakes focused on certain species (Bass, Walleye, Pike, Musky), or all in the same lake(s) that are catch and release only, similar to trout management.

lol now thats funny!! i think if u put a musky and flathead of equal size head to head in a tank,im pretty sure what u would have by end of day is a chewed up catfish, wide soft mouth vs agile sharp canine full of very sharp teeth mouth my money would be on the musky.. i think i would pay money to see that fight.

"lol now thats funny!! i think if u put a musky and flathead of equal size head to head in a tank,im pretty sure what u would have by end of day is a chewed up catfish,"

Never happen. A musky aint gonna attack something so big. Something it had no chance of eating. It definately would have an advantage with the teeth, but I dont think it'd have the guts to use em... Musky are too shy unless its something small & its feeding time.

Musky are pretty tough with 8 inch suckers though.

Would be cool if you could make them fight though some how. Be funny to see one of those over grown pickeral hanging out a flats mouth from the gills forward in the cats mouth...puttin' the squeeze on and refusing to let go. Them skis, specially the bigger ones are pretty fragile... lol.

The way those flats are camoed up to match the bottom and they lie there at times with mouth open, one o' dem skis would liable to swim right on in!

Either that or the cat would just brush up against the ski....remove his slime coat from 1/2 inch of his body and he'll be floatin', white & fuzzy within in a week. lol.

Now dont get yer knickers in a knot. ITs all in good fun and we all have our favorites.

I dont fish them as often as some of you guys and havent caught a ton of them, but Ive caught some, and due to my secondary interest, Ive done plenty of homework on Mr. Musky.

I think a musky forum would be a great idea. Id like to see the fishery managed for skis in some areas more than it has been, such as on the mon. Large waterway with great potential, ahistory of stocking and results are showing.... Then quitting altogether for awhile and now only stocking limited number of fingerlings in one pool. If i remember correctly, when they quit, they said they were gonna pool the available resources towards select lakes etc. and quit the mon & other waters too. Some of you guys are really showing that more consideration should be given and would like to see those pics, discussions etc. in an easy to find format. Thats one way a single species forum for musky could be helpful. Also pooling all the post together would make it easier for others to learn about the tough sport.
