hot weather

Does anyone have any success during the day when it gets this hot? We've caught a few fish early in the morning and late in the evening, but that's it. Doea the heat affect the fish in the river as much as the fish in the lake?

Yes, I think that where I fish in the upper alleghany many fish go more nocturnal.

    especially big trout.

not that it affects me too much,. I fish at night year round.

in hot weather, in lakes i know to try to hit deep holes and small feeder creeks,in rivers long deep slow moving holes with cover, big rocks submereged logs, i managed to catch 4 smallies and a small eye in the shenango yesterday between 3-7 in the afternoon the eye was 13 1/2'' and the biggest s/m was about 16'' worked hard for every fish, they all came off lures expect 1 smaallie caught on a live crayfish i happen to grab under a rock, fishing in the hot weather is not easy its all in the presentation, though with patience it can be done, besides carp love to hit in hot weather

I have been doing very well in this weather. I believe it is more mental battle, the fish are there. Fish where the fish are.

I think super hot conditions actually give you an advantage. When the water warms, fish metabolism shoots through the roof because they're cold blooded. They are forced to feed more often or starve.

it took me an hour to find them in the river near me, but I ended up with 10 good hits and 4 landed (smallmouth bass). I was wet wading and was SHOCKED at the temperature difference between the areas with current and slower areas just 5 feet away. fast water felt cool while it felt warm just a few feet away.

The areas with deep and narrow channels that had good current was loaded with small fish. The big fish were all in slow pools, out in the open, much to my suprize. Instead of being under a train bridge in 8 feet of water and shade, they were in 3-4 feet in open sun with little cover. Most of the normal areas held no fish at all, they moved to other areas in the heat.

Landed a nice 19" smallie that went about 2.5 lbs. I was fishing from about 11:30 to 1:15.

All but one fish were caught on a white rubber minnow, fished with a 3/8oz white jighead that has a silver spinner spoon on the bottom.

"A Homewood man led police on an hourlong car chase that ended with a crash injuring three officers.

"The car was driving itself," Wright said. "The car has a GPS. It's a Lincoln Navigator. They drive themselves. I wasn't running nowhere."
