Diawa Exceler Baitcasting Reel

I just bought one of these. TThe spool does not lock. It moves forward and reverse. Looked all over for a knob or button. Is there someway to straighten out or is the reel defective? Thanks

    Does the reel engage after being in freespool? Is your drag tightened down? The drag star is the star next to the handle and there has to be enough drag pressure on the reel. Tighten the star down then try. Sounds like you don't enough drag pressure. If that doesn't work then maybe its defective.
