Trolling with spoons?

Was up fishing in ontario all week, and was trolling with spoons, mostly 1 1/8 size, weedless and standard treble hooks. What have you guys had the best luck with lure wise and depth of water? Also any tips on getting a deeper depth was having a good presentation? I was having trouble getting my lure in that 15-25 foot range. Thanks =D

The local bait shops can set you up with some hot spoons. I like my Michigan stingers and Renosky's. For going down 15-25 ft. some of the popular methods are using Jet divers, Dipsy divers and other disks, leadcore too.

There are differents brands and sizes to choose from. Many plugs will hit that depth with no help. On Lake Erie (real clear) getting your lure off to the side of the boat can make a big difference. So check out different boards. Even small inline ones will help. Good luck.

Oh ya, latter in the summer, spoons off downriggers is a real fav.

i use spoons for steel head say 1/4 max weight in 8 to 21ft as far as deep water use a dipsy and braid to get depth speed is a factor too slow no action to fast and no action around 2.1 to a max of 3.1 also i use a down rigger and in line weights if use in line play with lead from weight from 8ft to 20 ft from weight its a call thing you will catch any game fish with spoons even cat/carp do not think that a small stinger spoon just catches small fish ive pulled 10lb eyes and steelies and 30lb salmon off stingers rember mms are small but taste good
