First Post

I've been a lurker for some time but I finally decided to register and post because I have a question raised on another board.  Basically, what are the rules about fishing the docks/marinas in Presque Isle?  Specifically the Marina by the Marina (State Park) ramp and the "yacht" club on the Bay's south shore (town side shore).  I'll be arriving for 5 days of fishing on the 18th and in the event of wind I want to fish these areas.

Now I think first time posters should give something back if they ask questions.  Maybe you already have it but here is a pretty detailed chart of Presque Isle for ya: http://www.charts.noaa.gov/OnLineViewer/14835.shtml

Both the Marina Bay Marina and Lampe Marina are owned by the Erie Port Authority. I would suggest you give them a call. I think it is for marina renters only. The reason is security. At Lampe you need a key to get to the boats and they frown upon strange vessels because of insurance regulations. That is what I have been told but I have never seen any "OFFICAL" rules. I would bet the yacht club would have issues as well. It never hurts to call and ask. Good luck and enjoy your trip!

If you have waders there is plenty of good fishing which can be done along the shorelines of marina lake, you don't have to use the docks although it was convenient. Also the head of the bay is popular to fish. The east and west pier offer a variety of fishing as it is a channel from marina lake to presque bay and is a little bit deeper and the boat traffic keeps the weeds down which are starting to pop up all over the place. Bring some top water gear for sure.

A couple of other popular spots would be Misery bay or the lagoons.

Welcome to the board, Jake. I also was a lurker for over a year when this site was first created
    (in 2000)until I finally registered.

    Thanks for the map link!

    Welcome to the board.
Hope your trip pans out for you, long range forecast looks promising.
I'm not sure of the spots you mentioned myself, but as osunowms said...
there'll be plenty of good fishin' even if you can't get into those specific areas.
    Thanks for the map!

You will not be able to fish either without permission. Your options are limitless when fishing the bay. Pay attention to the wind and have fun.

jake just always remember, cold is the man.

"Sure, we can assiduously three-quarter our wets downstream, mend and wait out each fly swing, over and over again, which to my way of thinking, anyway, relegates the angler to the role, not of nemesis as it should be, but of butler."
