Seeing that naming spots to fish is a no no . I would never try the lagoons on the peninsula. Especially just befor the bridge that goes to the marina in the shallows.

Best place these days is Conneaut Lake.  Used to be a bunch at the Union City dam...not sure if they're still there.

In the past week I have seen 4 or 5 bowfin...all but 1 was near the lagoon launches after the second bridge on presque isle.

I've never caught "alot" of bowfin out of PI. I manage 2-3 per year out of there. Shallow water seems to produce.

I don't always snag fish, but when I do...

    My list for bowfin:
#1-Geneva swamp (hit it during the spawn & wear yourself out)
#2-French creek (near feeder creek inlets)
    #3-Conneaut lake (along weed edges)

Keep in mind though, I don't fish erie much...
that hog Slickfish posted a while back beats any I've got inland....but the spots I mentioned do have good numbers.
My PB bowfin was a fat 26" out of the crick, fought like a gator.

actually fish guts, as crazy as it may seem.. i've had my best luck with crappie rigs tipped with crawlers off the side of piers..

caught a trophy fin last year off the North Pier in June, could barely lift it up from the water with the net..

we always used cut bait or deeply hooked perch on the bottom for them. I would also never suggest that the dam side of conneaut lake near the outflow. I would never say that they are stacked up like cord wood in there BUT others have......

i find them to be a interesting species. im not exactly sure what the law is on bowfin. i know they encourage you to through them back but im not sure if you can keep one. i want to fish for them for fun and release them but i also want to keep a 15-20 incher for my 300 gallon aquarium.

lol.. yup! don't ever go to this spot!

especially with big nightcrawlers on floats, about 6 inches from the bottom!

don't ever go to misery bay either...

i would never assume there are bowfins stacked in there amongst all those tall plants, especially on the south side where its only 5" ft deep
