    Welcome!

Yellow Perch, Smallmouth, Largemouth, Channel Cats, Rock Bass, Crappie, White Perch, Bowfin, Steelhead, Northerns, Walleye, Sheepshead, Carp, Gobies, White Bass, Burbot, Smelt...

    Depends on "which" pier though...

Welcom Viking.  April and May might be best times for pier fishing in erie.  Like DaFunk said, you can catch just about anything you want to target.  and it is a blast.  Pick a pier and you most likely will be able to catch fish this time of year.  my favorite this time of year is the north pier just becuase there is so much to catch.  and there are some big fish going through there too. caught a ten pound cat last year on my perch rod, it was a blast! good luck and have fun!

night time pier fishing is a blast too..

just remember though, i think everyplace in Presque Isle State Park closes at night.. you have to find "other" piers..

    Welcome to the site Viking...
I don't know how familiar you are with the area or if you ever fished the piers before or have just researched them online... but one piece of equipment you will need is a very long handled net.
Although you may pick one up locally it would probably be easier to be prepared.
...And no matter what the weather is 'forcasted' for, be prepared for a stiff and cold breeze early in the year when out near the mouth of the harbor!
Happy fishing and let us know how you do!

I got a golf ball retriever for like $10 at walmart and duct taped it to my regular net.  Just a thought before you go spend too much on an extenda net.
