16506, you're right, no need to wade(because theres no fish anyways)LMAO.
just kidding(sort of), been doing the shoreline thing for 15 years, caught about 7or 8 walleyes during those years.
alot of people think a ton of walleyes come in and you catch them. Its not like that at all, its a waiting game. most nights, you will catch nothing but every blue moon, you mnay get lucky. IMO, the last 5 years have been horrible, sometimes the smolts are not near the shoreline, they will stage in 20 fow and the shoreline guys dont have a chance.

Its not worth driving very far for this fishing, you will likely get skuncked, if you live close, then its something to do.

This may help some folks learning night time techniques on walleye. I have caught them with a fast retrieve on occasions, It helps to have large, medium, and small floating stick baits with a variety of colors. One year they hit a 3 inch G finnish pearl color with many limits being caught. Two to three rapid cranks pause repeat ya just don,t really have a set standard every year brings a challenge to figure out. And it helps when luck and skill come together. Hope ya folks have a season with lots of strikes and stories to talk about. Keep your hooks sharp.

we troll at night, most are caught over underwater points... look at the shoreline...
no where near creeks or piers. They simply cruise the shoreline and eat anything they
come across, not just smoltZ...
last night we got 0...

I wish this thread would die already ...

for newbies to shore walleyes..fill your reel with 20 pound braid..use 8-12 pound fluro leader..go to north or south pier..cast spoons tippeted with worms, minnows, any bait..reef runners work in the deep too..let lures sink!

only at night it seems

heard 3 were caught this week off the north pier by perch fisherman. seems the end of the pier by the lighthouse is the hotspot.
